### What image formats does this tool accept?

JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP. For HEIC photos from an iPhone, use our HEIC to JPG converter first, then compress the result.

### Why didn't my image reach exactly 1 MB?

We target 'under 1 MB' rather than an exact number — a 760 KB output still clears any 1 MB gate. If the image is extremely detailed or huge in dimensions we downscale it once at minimum quality so the file fits.

### What format does the compressed image come out as?

JPG files stay as JPG. PNG and WebP are re-encoded as JPG because JPG gives the best size-to-quality ratio at a 1 MB target. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP separately first.

### Can I compress a whole folder at once?
